'BOYS LOOK TO IMPRESS IN 2008...

It was their first game of the season.  The Cowboys of Chino knew that speed and shooting was their meal-ticket to success, but it had yet to translate onto the court.  Training camp had been marred by lack of participation, and general lack of organization.  Bryant Ribota, captain, adds, "We thought training camp ended a little too soon for us.  I mean, we were ready as far as our speed and agility...but we needed a little more focus as a group.  I think that has played out into the season, particularly in the second game.  BUT....we are one and one, and we probably need a center.....BUT, I think we have some time to correct the things that we don't do well.....and put together some good games."  With just 8 points in Sundays game, the Cowboy offense was not as efficient as in game 1.  Many feel they do need that extra rebounder that most teams have.  But the 'Boys do have their youth, and as they get to know teams around the league.... they will get a feel for the effort it will take to win consistently.  With guys like Ribota, and G Anthony Diaz, the Cowboys can wrangle in some solid performances...

GAME OF THE WEEK (3):  HESHIONS VS. COWBOYS.

Skate Shoes, no socks, velcrow lowtops......get whett!!  The Cowboys go against the Harvest this Sunday at 1:00pm, and all bets are off!  The Harvest ride a two game winnning streak, outscoring their opponents 81-44 thus far.  The Cowboys come in a strong 1-1, but did lose in Week 2.  If the Cowboys want to compete with the All- Powerful Harvest, they'll have to come up big in the rebound department.  Their size comes into question, but teams do find ways to defy the odds.  For the Harvest, it's all about clocking in....and going to work.  Just like farmers that jump on tractors in the weeeee hours of the mornin'........so too, do the Harvest work together to sow the field.  Teamwork.  However, if the Cowboy defense applies pressure, and forces some bad shots....then those young 'boys might just shock the league!!!  Don't look for Kenny Chesney to be there, or Johnny Chesney for that matter, but do look for a close game.  Let's see some fan support here.....it's not on ABC, but Heck!!!!!  Yee-Hawwwwww!!!

Olive Boy says:  Harvest by 10...

CHINO FORFEITS......SIGHTS LACK OF PLAYERS....

The Claremont Harvest defeated the Chino Cowboys last Sunday, 1-0 on a forfeit score.  Chino did not floor a team for warm-ups, and was disqualified after it became apparent that they were not going to show up....period.  For Claremont, that caps their third win in a row, lifting their record to a league-best 3-0.  After, Chino officials did not immediately return phone messages left by the associated press.  It is unclear what their status for Week 4, when they take on the Heshions.  It was a golden opportunity missed for the Cowboys, as a win would have vaulted them into a tie for first place.  Instead, the loss leaves them 1-2...in a three way tie for second place.

The Glendora Bizarros, a club team composed of different players, stepped in to play the Harvest in an exhibition game for the fans.  They started strong, holding a 16-11 lead at half time.  But the second half was all Harvest, particularly all Simi Simm.  The Harvest power forward had 16 second half points, and exposed the Bizarros in the paint.  This was his second strong showing of the season, and the Harvest look to keep rolling.  Next week, it is a rematch of week 1, as they take on the LV Cutters.

Fans were delighted to watch the exhibition, as one fan remarked: "I love this game!  I spent my money on these tickets, and the Harvest didn't disappoint.  I thought that goofy guy Johnny on the Bizarros was funny too....limping around with his Jack Tripper haircut.  I wasn't very pleased when he flipped off my kids though!!"

WEEK 4:  COWBOYS FOLD OPERATIONS, QUIT LEAGUE

-Team President cites lack of interest, scheduling conflicts as reasons for the decision.  Team from Rancho Cucamonga likely suitors for league spot.

In a surprising move, the Chino Cowboys folded operations on Friday, and were subsiquently disbanded.  President Bryant Ribota informed League Commissioner C. DeLang of their intentions Friday morning.  In a brief press conference, Ribota thanked the league, but said, "We have to stop - there are other commitments people have on this team.  Our forward is also an aspiring professional paint ball player, and he has club games on weekends.  Sunday is a rest day, and we can't make it..."  No word has come out of the league office yet on a possible replacement team for the Cowboys.  Sources close to the situation say that there has been a strong push for a group out of Rancho Cucamonga to take over.  No decision has been made, however, as to this weekend's games.  Chances are, the Heshions will play a hybrid team......
